DBSC – Clubhouse – Bar Hours

Members,

Having noted a decline in trade in the club house bar, experienced similarly in pubs and clubs throughout the country, the committee has looked at the manner in which the bar was operated. Recognising that the bar remains an integral element of club activity, with almost 40% of our members Social members, it has also been accepted that profit is not the over-riding objective of operating the bar. We have therefore looked at the periods where trade is poor and to this end agreed to revise the bar opening hours accordingly.

As from Monday 7th February, 2011, the bar will operate during the hours listed beneath albeit with the caveats that should more than 10 people be in the bar at 10pm, or by previous arrangement and agreement with the committee, we then keep the bar open until 11pm.

Saturday 12 noon to 10pm
Sunday – 1pm to 8pm
Monday – Closed
Tuesday – 7pm to 10pm
Wednesday – 7pm to 10pm
Thursday – 7pm to 10pm
Friday – 7pm to 10pm

It should be noted that this does not mean the club house is now closed on a Monday, nor indeed outside any of the bar opening hours; should any member wish to use the clubhouse for meetings, training or any club based event, it will be made available by agreement with the committee through the normal channels.

We would intend to review this position throughout the year and would welcome members assistance is reversing the trend. The club really benefits from organised social events and functions and we would ask for willing volunteers to arrange these social events to ensure the club house continues to be the fantastic asset it is and forming the “hub” of the club.

Regards,

Donald Adrain,
Commodore
