NOTICE TO MARINERS
FIRTH OF FORTH
SEMI-SUBMERSIBLE RIG ANCHORING AT K7 ANCHORAGE
Reference: Chart No 734
The Safe Caledonia is a semi-submersible accommodation rig, which will be anchoring at K7 anchorage. The rig is currently unmooring from its position in the North Sea with the earliest ETA at the anchorage of Friday 4th April. The operation is weather dependent and may be subject to delay.
On arrival in the Firth of Forth the Safe Caledonia will be towed to anchorage K7, north-east of Kinghorn Ness. The rig will be centred on 56º 04.62’ N 003º 06.9’ W and deploy a spread of ten anchors, each approximately 700m from the rig, to the perimeter of the anchorage. The anchors will take around 24 hours to deploy.
The rig shall remain for a period of time yet to be determined. Apart from attending vessels, an exclusion zone will apply to all of K7 anchorage while the Safe Caledonia is at anchor.
Mariners are requested to observe the exclusion zone and keep well clear of the anchorage.
