After a long spell of no problems with security at the sailing club, in recent days one of our members has had their 18hp outboard engine stolen from the back of their boat that is lying ashore in the bottom boat park. This engine was chained securely to their boat and this was not a lightweight item. If you have not been down to the club for a while, it would be wise to take a trip down and check your property and how you have it secured.
This is also a good time to remind everyone of the importance of making sure the entrance gate is always kept closed outside of core sailing operating hours. While this will not fully prevent incidents like this, it is one more deterrent that makes theft of larger items a bit more challenging for a thief.
