This year’s ‘Bart’s Bash’ at Dalgety Bay Sailing Club will be held on Sunday 16th September, starting at 2pm. The race will also count towards normal club racing. This is the day that the sailing community remembers Andrew ‘Bart’ Simpson, a double Olympic medallist who tragically lost his life whilst training for the Americas cup in 2013.

Bart’s Bash is a global charity sailing event that is competitive inclusive and fun. It is open to sailors of all ages and experience, with coordinated racing all over the world. It is the biggest sailing event in the World, and results are compiled so you can compare yourself against the very best in the World – you could beat our Olympic Champions!

This is the 5th year of Bart’s Bash and the past 2 years have seen more than 11,000 volunteers and 45,000 sailors taking part in this event in over 1000 different types of boats, across 62 countries around the world, achieving a Guinness World Record in the process.

There are no entry fees for this event, but participants are encouraged to make a donation to the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation. This can be done directly to their web site, or on the day at DBSC.

Please enter & donate at:  The web site also provides more event information.

We also need volunteers to help run the event – please sign up as normal on Dutyman, or drop me a note at Mobile: 07715 597216

We will also have a cake stall for when sailors come ashore – my wife’s cakes are very good – all proceeds go to BartsBash.

Happy sailing to all,

Keith Bedborough
