Power Boat Training

As an RYA recognised training establishment we are able to offer the following Powerboat courses to members and non-members in planning and displacement craft:

RYA Level 1 Powerboat Course

Provides a practical introduction to the fun and exciting sport of powerboating – great for kids!

RYA Level 2 National Powerboat Course

A 2-day course providing the skills and knowledge required to become a competent powerboat driver.

RYA Safety Boat Course

A 2 day course providing the skills required when acting as an escort craft, safety boat or coach boat for a fleet of dinghies, windsurfs or canoes and for racing and training activities.

RYA Level 2 National Powerboat Certificate (Coastal Endorsement Assessment)

A separate assessment for holders of the RYA Level 2 National Powerboat Certificate obtained from non coastal Training Centres seeking to receive their Coastal Endorsement.

We are also able to offer a direct assessment for Level 2. This is purely for those who have several years power boating experience already and are looking to formalise their existing skills by obtaining a certificate. The assessment follows a set format demonstrating each of the required skills to an acceptable standard and while there is no formal written examination, candidates will be assessed on their general navigational knowledge at the same time.

Throughout all our Powerboat courses DBSC’s diverse Rescue Fleet is fully utilised in order to allow our friendly and professional instructors to provide you with a wide and exciting range of learning experiences.

For further information regarding any of the above courses please contact teamlbn@ymail.com.

Junior Powerboating at DBSC

We wish to actively encourage Junior Members to become involved in powerboating within the club. However in order to ensure that juniors are encouraged in a safe, sensible and controlled manner it has been necessary to impose certain restrictions on the level of their participation. These restrictions are laid out in the DBSC Junior Powerboating Policy, along with other information contained within our Regulations and Safety information page.

Any Junior Member who is interested in powerboating at DBSC should get their parent or guardian to contact the Training Team.
